NICHOLAS EARL DAVIS – CURATOR / CO-HOST – the inimitable, unquenchable literary highway robber baron! Introduced to spoken word / performance poetry at the tender age of 12 by favorite poet uncle Peter Davis. (scene missing) Nicholas was discovered yelling stuff outside the Greendale Mall 6 years later. After being told that this was “slam poetry,” he went on to become an integral screamer on the 2004 Worcester Youth Poetry Slam Team that represented Worcester at Brave New Voices Festival in Los Angeles, California. Nicholas later staked a claim in Worcester Poetry Slam, by earning a spot on the adult team the following year, traveling to the 2005 National Poetry Slam in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (scene missing) Nicholas went on to focus on music, social work and general mayhem. When The Dirty Gerund needed a new host & new direction, Nicholas shrugged, said “why not” and brought his manic energy back to full time, full blast zaniness. He’s fronted bands Pharmaceutically Gifted, Izinhower, Bohemian Scuzz Buckets and is on the brink of releasing his first semi full length poetry album, “Cardiac House Arrest,” (produced by Dorian Gatej) on Vemplore Records. He can put more marshmallows in his mouth than you. Email him HERE

ALEX CHARALAMBIDES – CO-HOST / EXECUTIVE CONSULTANT – Alex’s been performing poetry since fall of 2000. He’s repped Worcester, Boston & Providence at the National Poetry Slam. He’s toured nationally, appeared on the PBS series Fetch, fronted a band called Skint, competed at the Individual World Poetry Slam, is a teaching artist, and handles some tasks for the Dirty Gerund. Website, Booking, Co-Hosting. He’s older than most poets at the DG, but is young enough to not care all that much about it. Check out or email him HERE.

EMILEE MORREALE – CULINARY ARTS a.k.a. SNACK-TIME QUEEN – The Dirty Gerund Show loves to give back to its constituency. We do this, not only by offering you a quality variety of talent gracing our stage any given monday, but by also offering you a literal taste of something awesome. What started as us hucking snack-cakes in your general direction turned into something else entirely. We usually rely on a trusty community member to volunteer a snack, but one such volunteer went far and beyond one too many times, that we had to bestow a special title. This local culinary fairy studied culinary arts in school, works in the restaurant biz, and we keep asking her to get in the catering biz already! Emilee’s a Diamond Street Vigilante, can do a mean Ani cover, and has brought us amazing treats from tomato bisque to cheesecake pops, to stuff wrapped in bacon! When we’re lacking in volunteers, we step in and commission her to do some amazing work. However, if we go three weeks without a volunteer from the community, ya’ll get saltless generic rice cakes and a mighty scowl! Email Emilee at by Sunday Evening before showtime to help avoid such calamity. EMILEE is also our 2013 REIGNING MISS DIRTY GERUND!

AARON WHITE – VISUAL ARTS DIRECTOR – Aaron White started drawing monsters when he was four years old. That’s how it started, really. Many years and drawings later, he attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design, majoring in Illustration. Since then he’s had work displayed in various places around Worcester, Boston, Cambridge, and North Hampton; including places like Man Ray, The Middle East, Aurora Gallery, Axis, Worcester Artists Group and the Crompton artist Collective. In 2009 he won the “Viewer’s Choice Award” in ARTSWorcester’s Biennial Juried Show. Aaron specializes in mixed-media, often combining up to seven or more in one piece, and his works can be sometimes described as surreal, sometimes creepy. When he is not drawing, Aaron enjoys writing fiction and creating music. Examples of his work can be seen at Want to bring your visual touch to the Dirty Gerund? DIRTY GERUND DUCT TAPE BAND / ORCHESTRA – These fellas “take five” when you need ’em too, but on any given Monday, the Dirty Gerund continues to rock the intense poetry/music improv collaborations. The reason we’re able to do this is because the community wants it and we’ve been fortunate enough to have players who can bring it. The line-up changes from time to time, but lately, our power combo of MARK LEIGHTON (guitar), PETE THOMAN (drums),  listen to the words and lay it down as only a great band can! Special shouts to those who step in from time to time ADAM CASTEN, NICK GOSSELIN all keep things strong and sticky, like yup, duct tape! Special shout outs to original TBO line-up SHANE HALL, BRIAN DELSIGNORE, JUSTIN BOWSE, ADAM TRUDELL & thanks to past house players BRIAN SAMPSON, CHUCK SHIMKUS, BEN DANIEL, MARTIN GOHARRY, TAYLOR BENOIT, LARRY WILSON, DERRICK MEADE, MATT CORREA, ALEX THORSEN, ANDREW ROBINSON, KEVIN SANAVAGE.

SHANE HALL – MUSIC/POETRY MASHER GURU: EMERITUS – Our very first Musical Director will always have a special place in our hearts! This singer, songwriter, rapper, artist, TickleBomb Orchestra Band Leader and all around nut-case, turned our show from a regular poetry reading into something pretty special. Shane’s commitment to our cause early changed the game, created a backing band and backing band mentality and clearly demonstrated how much music and poetry BELONG together! We’ll never go back! Band business and rock star scheduling forced him to step down as full time musical director, but Shane is always around even when he isn’t. A busy busy music man, you can get all sorts of close to him on-line at or at
