Monday March 28th! DEVIN SAMUELS from PROVIDENCE! Plus PROMPT & CIRCUMSTANCE Challenge!

FEATURED POET: DEVIN SAMUELS featured for us back in 2013, and is visiting us on a devinspecial night, his last in New England, as he undertakes a 2 year spoken word educational fellowship opportunity in Detroit! He has been a member of four national level youth & adult poetry slam teams that competed at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival and the National Poetry Slam. He has coached numerous college level and youth state teams over the past 4 years. He is the founder of Poetic Release, University of Connecticut’s first Spoken word community, who’s slam team made it to semi finals of the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational Competition. Devin is a teaching artist, an organizer, a great performer, a wildly intelligent and honest voice who is literally going places, (namely Detroit) to work with Inside Out Project Detroit, a non-profit reaching out to youth through spoken word poetry! We’re sad to see him leaving the area for now, but can’t wait to send him off in style!

promptBONUS RUCKUS: Return of the “PROMPT & CIRCUMSTANCE” Writing & Performance Challenge. Not gonna lie, we like stuff, we’re also whimsical as F! We like to hit recycling centers up for ideas, I mean, things. Why can’t they be both? Why can’t they be writing prompts! Hiccup! We don’t know. Actually we’re gonna find out again. One of our newest and beloved games is back. You choose a ticket, ticket gets you an object at the beginning of the show. The item is your prompt. The circumstance? Well, the item is also your writing surface! Dang! Winner get’s a cool prize!

MARK LEIGHTON has promised snacks, relieving us of having to issue adg1 rice cake alert! AARON WHITE is throwing his paint brush in the ring this month! What else, what else? I don’t know. The boys in the band will continue to rawk! YOSH, MIKEY & DORIAN will continue to rocket you all to a flavorful future through drinks & food! Thanks to all who made NICHOLAS EARL DAVIS’ birthday party the cultural landmark that we feel it is. We didn’t even get that much roasting in. Whaddaya know, we’re all growing up!
