FEATURED POET: DEVIN SAMUELS featured for us back in 2013, and is visiting us on a devinspecial night, his last in New England, as he undertakes a 2 year spoken word educational fellowship opportunity in Detroit! He has been a member of four national level youth & adult poetry slam teams that competed at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival and the National Poetry Slam. He has coached numerous college level and youth state teams over the past 4 years. He is the founder of Poetic Release, University of Connecticut’s first Spoken word community, who’s slam team made it to semi finals of the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational Competition. Devin is a teaching artist, an organizer, a great performer, a wildly intelligent and honest voice who is literally going places, (namely Detroit) to work with Inside Out Project Detroit, a non-profit reaching out to youth through spoken word poetry! We’re sad to see him leaving the area for now, but can’t wait to send him off in style!
