samanthalibbyPOETRY FEATURE: SAMANTA LIBBY is a muppet in a world of cartoons and marionettes. She is mom to two children, and finds them delightful and challenging but unbearably beautiful. Sam was a co-host of the Boston Poetry Slam at the Cantab Lounge and Lizard Lounge in the late 90s and was a member of the Boston Slam Team that travelled to the National Poetry Slam in Chicago in 1999. She currently teaches creative writing at Nichols College. She is also the poet rabbi to an alternative Jewish congregation in Weston, MA. BONUS RUCKUS: The “OH NO, HELP ME I’M MELTING” Haiku / lazysummerdogShort Verse Writing Challenge! We here at the Dirty Gerund follow the news, I mean, we live and breathe and melt with the rest of you! During these Dog Dayz, it’s difficult to keep it together and write meaningful poems when all one can think about is the pool of sticky sweat they exist in. Hard to come up with a metaphor when all you want is to write at the bottom of a pool, or in an air conditioned movie theater! Let’s keep it short and simple, pen a haiku or a short poem about how stupid hot it’s been, how you’ve been stay20120416-_DSC9834ing cool and win!
