Monday, Feb 18th! McKENDY FILS-AIME returns from Manchester! Plus! The Thomas CLOTHES-PINCH-On my face!” Performance Challenge!

Great times on Mondays as we gear up for our first “first friday” monthly residency upstairs! We keep the party moving this Monday with:

Boston Poetry Slam @ the Cantab Lounge, Cambridge, MA.POETRY FEATURE: McKENDY FILS-AIME – a five-time competitor at the National Poetry Slam, representing Manchester’s Slam Free or Die (2008, 2010), Worcester Poets’ Asylum (2009), and Boston Poetry Slam (2011, 2012). In 2011, he was the top scorer in the Team Selection Slams for the Boston Poetry Slam, in addition to qualifying as a finalist for that year’s Boston Lizard Lounge poetry slam team. He is a two-time NorthBEAST Regional Slam individual finalist, ranking third in 2011. In 2012, he performed on the semi-final stage at the National Poetry Slam and was the runner-up at NUPIC, the National Poetry Slam’s mckendyprestigious underground individual tournament. Mckendy has shared the stage with the likes of Corrina Bain, Mike McGee, and Regie Gibson. In January of 2011, he toured the country as part of a poetry quartet called No More Ribcage. Some of his work can be found in literary journals such as Amoskeag, Radius, Smashcake, and Borderline. Currently, he has three self-published books and is working on a manuscript. When not reading his own poetry or attending open mics, Mckendy runs writing and performance workshops around New England. He one day hopes to apply the skills he has gained through workshopping into a successful teaching career. He may be contacted directly through email for bookings.

clothespinsBONUS RUCKUS: The First EVER! “Thomas CLOTHESPINS PINCH-ON My Face” Performance Challenge! Bear with us, NICHOLAS EARL DAVIS & I have a process by which we come up with certain ruckuses. Due to a rare opportunity to perform together outside of our beloved home town, sometimes, we let our minds run wild on car voyages. “You know, something with sticking clothespins on our faces…” sometimes, a sweet nugget of brilliance stirs in NICHOLAS’ soul and it takes a lot of ingenuity for me to take that brilliant light and frame it just right! THOMAS PYNCHON is an American novelist. A MacArthur Fellow, he is noted for his dense and complex novels. Both his fiction and non-fiction writings encompass a vast array of subject matter, styles and themes, including (but not limited to) the fields of history, science, and mathematics. (thanks Wiki!) What better way to celebrate literature, than to see how many clothespins we can get on your face while you read a meaningful passage. Winner gets something awesome!

DUCT TAPE BAND rocks you! YOSH & CHICKEN are glad to top you off! Snack time needs a volunteerin! Visual Arts, Open Mic and all the rest of that stuff that sounds like jazz, but is not necessarily jazz!

Last time McKendy was in the house, he was helping us celebrate a special day! He makes all days special! Watch! We were so young!
