Monday, June 4th! DG Cowboy’s Up w/ MATTHEW HOPEWELL! Musical Guest: THE DENVER BOOT! Plus! IRON POET QUALIFIER! “ZAJON vs. MORRILL!

FEATURED POET: MATTHEW HOPEWELL aka “COWBOY MATT” is zinging two feature sets of meta-poetry this Monday at the Gerund! Ya’ll know Cowboy! If you don’t, he’s a local legend and West Boylston Renaissance Hero! He runs the little “a” poetry reading that happens every thursday at 97D Webster Street in Worcester. He’s an accomplished musician, releasing his bluesy rock on He’s a Worcester Magazine Awards Winning Poet. He currently serves as Program Director for the Worcester County Poetry Association. He used to sling coffee at all of Worcester’s indiest coffee houses! He’s a proud papa and champion of all who have facial hair! He’s self released Zappa-esque Chapbooks and has put himself in the Road Runners Shoe’s! He puts the mad in Mad-Cap and he’s promised us a few surprises this Monday! And he’s damned handsome!

MUSICAL GUEST: THE DENVER BOOT – Moody Folk Music with a touch of country picking, and hold the phony accent. Denver Boot was founded Early 2010 by Singer & Songwriter William J Moretti. It currently includes Amato Zinno, Kate Conroy, & John Marlowe. The group has gone through line up changes since it began but William will always persevere with the option of playing intimate solo shows. Spring 2012 will bring about their debut record “6 to 9, 7… 12” release. They’ve been fortunate to share the stage with these great acts: Slim Cessna Auto Club, Gringo Star, Three Bad Jacks, Larry and His Flask, The Migrant, Lac la Belle, Alec K. Redfearn and The Eyesores, The Loom, The Keys, Brown Bird Ruby Relic, Orion Rigel Dommisse, Filthy Still, Husky Burnette, Owen Mays, Skinny Millionaires, The Wrong Reasons, Barn Burning, and Vudu Sister. Check them out at!

BONUS RUCKUS: IRON POET QUALIFIER: “ZAJON vs. MORRILL” – Champion JENN MAHON has retired as champion! Exciting professional commitments have taken her out of the area, leaving a void that must be filled! Curator NICHOLAS EARL DAVIS has taken the reigns and has called for an interim championship tournament. The first two poet paired up to take a shot at the interim title belt (yes, he’s a wrastlin’ fan, there will be a belt) are none other than plucky poet upstart NICOLE ZAJON. Nick’s decided not to make it easy on her, as she has to face our very first Iron Poet Champion, JACKIE MORRILL who’s now back in the area after earning her MFA at Sarah Lawrence College! May the best woman win this Monday as these two great voices duke it out, composing original haiku and poems, incorporating a secret ingredient, known only to our Chairman and Barman, YOSH SHARTIN!

Ex-DG Music Director SHANE HALL has just released his long anticipate TICKLE BOMB ORCHESTRA ALBUM, Peasants & Kings! It is AMAZERS and you need to get yours on-line HERE! DUCT TAPE ENSEMBLE anticipates the return of keyboardist MARTIN GOHARY, burgers and beers this Monday! Visual Artist and Snacks TBA! Thanks to all that made last Monday’s Memorial Day Show snap, crackle and pop rocks! Damian? Where you at? More incredible photos by KYLE MARSHALL are up and at them at the DIRTY GERUND Page on FACEBOOK. Have you liked us yet? Do you like us? It would be nice if you liked us! We’ll settle for like, like right now! Nick misses you or something.
