3/8/10 JONATHAN WOLF HOWLS / IRON POET RE-MATCH! & THE 3/1/10 RECAP ALL IN ONE NEAT LIL’ PACKAGE!!!

COMBO UPDATE w/ INFO ABOUT UPCOMING SHOW & RECAP OF THE PAST!!

This Monday 3/8/10 – Dirty Gerund is proud to welcome our good buddy Jonathan Wolf for a full set of wordy words! Jonathan Wolf is a poet and hacker who has been involved as both a coach and a competitor for several Worcester slam teams. A fixture in the local performance poetry community, he is currently working on a book of poems involving birds, mathematics, and the Bible. On good days, he’s a hopeless romantic. He prefers Star Wars over Star Trek, dogs over cats, and cafes over bars. He currently resides in Worcester with his cat and several computers. He would like to hug you. Jonathan’s been involved with the Worcester Scene even longer than me & Nick collectively. He’s got craft, precision, passion and the looks to boot! We’re thankful that he’s part of our crew and looking forward to what he’s got in store for us. (Don’t let the results of his last attempt at Iron Poet Glory fool you, this man can bring the ruckus on-stage! 😉

BONUS RUCKUS: IRON POET SHOWDOWN: MORRILL vs. DAVIS II!!! “The thrilla with pain killa’s! Champion Jackie Morrill looks to defend her recently recaptured crown versus co-host /poet/ resident sack a patata’s Nick Davis, who’s still smarting from the whipping Jackie handed him months ago. Nick’s been on a strict diet of raw eggs and sheer FOCUS (and yeah ok, the occasional box of wine with his dinner) the last couple weeks and promises to actually challenge the champion this time. Why not?

Shane Hall & the Ticklebomb Orchestra will be on hand to kick the jams! We’re still looking for a snack-time volunteer (back-channel us). Plenty of fun and funny to funyons? to be had this monday so yeah…. you know… join us!

(We now return you to the irregularly scheduled re-cap from this past monday’s show, back to you Nick!)

Hello everybody in interweb world this is Nick “The Buzzer” Davis with a short, very late review of last weeks festivities know as The Dirty Gerund Poetry Show. I am still a little wonky from last week so this will be short and to the point.(if only I had a point)

Last Monday we had a kick ass open mic filled with all sorts of wonderful people. Most weeks I mention by name all the readers and specifically how they were so great this week however I’ll just give you the list and if you weren’t there on Monday you’ll have to use your imagination on why they were so amazing. Trust me they were. In no specific order big props go to Ryan, Melanie (first time reading out in SIX years! yay!), Ben, Bobby, Mandi, Jeff, Michel, Melissa and first timer Mike Kraft (who played a tune with the band backing him while he was on guitar).

Also in the open mic we had snack time which was  a wild variety of baked goods brought by good friend Mareh Labenkski. IT was AWESOME!!!

Our feature last Monday the one and only Laura Yes Yes who was captivating and truly magnificent. She brought the dirty and the ingenious and had the whole crowd gasping and hollering along. She tore it up over the course of two 20 minute sets. Plenty of laughs on topics ranging from sex to uhm… more sex. Shout outs for more nude men in art to meditations on her boyfriend’s biological ticking time-bomb of a clock, Laura engaged our raucous audience and commanded from the get go! Thank you so much Laura Yes Yes. If you didn’t catch her that night you should probably Google her.

Monday Night we also premiered a new game show called “What The HEll DId They Say?!!” where I played the BuzZer and Alex asked questions based on the evenings show. Danielle Chamberland brought home the gold (and by gold we mean $10 prize) by a large lead and concussed the buzzer. Lots o’ fun and laughter.

BIG THANKS TO SHANE HALL AND TICKLE BOMB ORCHESTRA WHO JAMMED LIKE MASTERS THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT, INCLUDING SIMULTANEOUS BASS & KEYBOARD ACTION BY ADAM TRUDELL!!! BIG THANKS TO YOSH OFFICIAL CANDIDATE FOR SEXIEST BARTENDER IN WORCESTER! BIG THANKS TO ALANA & JASON FOR THEIR DOPE PICS & OF COURSE, ALL WHO CAME AND MADE THE NIGHT SO RUCKUSY.

SEE YOU ALL SOON

LOVE VERY MUCH

MISS YOU ALREADY

-NICK “THE BUZZER” DAVIS
